Dear Jane,
I was thrilled to receive your letter last week that you’ve completed your high school studies and you’re torn between taking up a job or proceeding to the college. I think I will be able to help you within the limits of my knowledge about these, apparently evenly-matched options.
I think moving straight to the college now might not be enjoyable for you for at least two reasons. First, I recollect you told me that your final year at the grammar school was quite hectic for you in terms of meeting the target for a couple of assignments. Because of this, I think it would be wise to take a breather for like a year or two before continuing into the college where the academic demands are even higher. Additionally, you’re known for dreading meeting new people and starting college education shortly after high school would negatively impact your mental health.
Compare the above to getting a job for now. You would not only clear your mind of any educational engagements but also have enough time to attend to family engagements and friends’ parties. This would enable you regain focus toward resuming academic activities in a year or two.
In terms of the kinds of jobs you can look into, I will be suggesting carpentary and shoemaking. These two menial jobs are, I am convinced, are a dime and a dozen and you will enjoy them.
Let me know what you think. I was informed by Keneth that you’ll be attending Funke’s birthday in a week.
See you around,
Loveth
