The flow chart show the honey production of a non industrial producer from the bee hive to the market. The process is divided into two distinct steps, the bee phase and the human phase.
Before the human phase begins, the bees will have gathered nectar from flowers and deposited the honey in their hive, this process requires the bees to make cells of wax, cooling it by fanning with their wings and sealing the honey in honeycombs.
Once the bees have completed their part, the human phase takes over. The beekeepers will harvest the honeycombs and press them to extract the honey. The honey will then be put into a slump take where it is is heated to a temperature of 45° to 50°C, from there it will be filtered in a sieve tank so as to remove any residue or dirt, and finally it will be left to rest for between two and four days. At this point the honey will be sealed in jars and it can be shipped out to the market to be sold.
