Turning to the details, Malaysia’s population started at 30% in 1970 and rose sharply, reaching around 60% in 2000. This upward trend continued, as the figure peaked at roughly 80% by 2040. In constrast, the Philippines population began at about 30% in 1970 and fluctuated slightly during the early years, before increasing to nearly 55% by 2040.
Regarding remaining countries, Thailand’s population stood at around 20% in 1970 and underwent minor fluctuation during the following years. However, from 2020 onwards, it rose sharply, eventually reaching approximately 50% by 2040. Similarly, Indonesia’s population commenced at roughly 10% in 1970 and increased steadily during the first half of the period, before surging dramatically towards the end. By 2040, the figure for Indonesia stabilized at around 60%.
It is also noteworthy that Indonesia overtook the Philippines and Thailand in 2000 and 2010, while Malaysia remained higher throughout the timeframe.
