The three provided maps illustrate how West Park Secondary School’s infrastructure changed from its construction year, 1950, to 1980 and 2010.
Overall, the main building remained unchanged, but the playground was made smaller. The car park was introduced in the latter year, including a sports field and a science block.
In 1950, the school and playground were adjacent to the right side of agricultural areas such as farmland and residential areas. The main building was built by the main road and had a large playground on its south. By 1980, the farmland had been converted into a sports field, and to the north of the farmland, previously houses had been transformed into a car park and science block. The school’s main building and the playground remained the same.
In 2010, the sports field was made smaller and relocated to the south of the main building, replacing some parts of the playground, resulting in a smaller playground as a result of the extension of the car park. The car park covered nearly half of the map. The science block stayed at the same location.
