The diagram given illustrates how ethanol fuel is produced using corn. There are 9 major steps that have been followed to obtain purified ethanol.

The first and foremost step is to store the corn in a dry place with no moisture content, to avoid the corn from getting destroyed. Then it is sent for milling where the corn kernels are grinded into finer particles. Further the grinded corn is then mixed with water and cooked for about 4 hours and then set aside for fermenting for almost 48 hours. After this step is completed, the most important step is where the liquid produced is separated from the solid by-product. The liquid that is retained is then purified for 5 hours to get purified ethanol and then this liquid is further stored in proper containers and kept at a suitable temperature to keep it in its best quality. Later it gets transported to different parts for fuel purposes.

In conclusion the production of ethanol requires majorly milling (grinding), cooking, fermenting and separating and purification of the liquid.
