The diagram presents the monthly amount of money spent by an American family in 2010 on three items, namely food, gas, and clothing.
Overall, it is clear that the family had the highest expenditure in the start of spring in March, since the average of the expenses peaking with an amount surpassing $400. Also, they tend to buy a lot of clothing, as that tourns out to be the leading cost in February, and in April as well (about $580 and around $670, respectively).
In detail, if we examine the different categories, the costs of gas remains quite constant with a value between $250 and $350, but it shows a significant growth in April, compared to the other months of the first quarter. Regarding the expenses of the food, in the first three months they are above $400, but in the fourth month a small drop is experienced. While at the start of the year and in March the family doesn’t spend much on clothing, in the other two months this category rises considerably. In the end the spendings of the family show various trends, substantially depending on the month.
