Overall, the prices of bananas in all countries experienced a fluctuation, except for the USA. In addition, banana prices were the highest in Japan and the lowest in America.

In 1994, the cost of bananas in Japan was the most expensive, at nearly 2 US dollars, compared to just below 1 US dollar in the USA. In the next year, the banana price in the USA steadily increased to more than 1 US dollar, while Japan saw a significant rise, reaching a peak at around 3 US dollars in 1995. Despite a rise between 1997 and 1999, the banana price in Japan dropped to low of just above 1,5 US dollars per kilogram before rebounding to end at 2,5 US dollars in 2004, by contrast, there was a period of stability in the prices banana in the USA, remaining at roughly 1,1 US dollars from 1999 to 2004.

Regarding France and Germany, in 1994, Banana prices in both countries stood at about 1,7 US dollars and 1,4 US dollars respectively. The cost of bananas in France remained unchanged from 1994 to 1999, whereas the figure for Germany slightly grew to around 1,2 US dollars in 1996. From 1997 to 2004, the two countries’s cost experience a dramatic fluctuations, Germany decrease slightly to 1,2 US dollars in 2004, while the cost of bananas in France increased to about 1,75 US dollars in 2001 and then considerably decreasing, the lowest in all countries in 2003 before rebounding at the end period, reaching well over 1,5 US dollars in 2004.
