This two diagrams is showing us the big differences between Housing owned and rented in the UK.

In second diagram which shows 1991 year, we can read that in that year, 60% people had own homes, 34% were renting homes privately and social, also 6% lived in social housing.

In first diagram which shows 2007 year, situation is different. 70% of people had their own homes, 28% were renting homes privately and social, 2% were living in social housing.

Summary, in 2007 situation improved since 1991. More people had their own homes, that means they were able to buy homes. Moreover renting homes begun take smaller percentage. 27 million homes in 2007 to 22 million homes in 1991 such a good results of political system in the UK.
