The percentage of private cars in the UK was two-fifths of the total vehicle population in 1965, which then rose to more than half in 1985, and by 2005, its had occupied three-fifths of the total proportion. The public transport, and lorries and other cars’ proportions were the second and third highest in the UK, which accounted for 25% and 20%, respectively, in 1965. Then, after 20 years, the percentage of public transport dropped, while the other remained the same, with 20% each. In 2005, there was an increase of 2% for public transport, whereas the percentage of lorries and other cars decreased by half (10%).
The recreational vehicles were of 15% in 1965, even though it had a drop to 5% in 1985, it rose to 8% by 2005.
