Overall, the UK economy experienced many changes in different sectors during the twentieth century. Business and Financial services showed dramatic growth, while manufacturing and agriculture declined considerably.
To begin with business and financial services, which had the lowest position by 1900, and then dominated the economy at approximately 32% in 2000. Agriculture services showed a gradual decline, but it increased gradually from 46% to 55% by 1950, and then fell from 48% in 1900 to approximately 2% by 2000, becoming an insignificant part of the economy. Manufacturing services experienced a steady decrease throughout the period, dropping slightly from 45% to 30% by 1975. By 2000, manufacturing had settled a moderate level of approximately 15%.
