The diagram illustrates a fire exit plan for students in a college accommodation.
As can be seen from the diagram, the fire exit plan is designed with two separate routes leading to distinct meeting points.
To begin with, the college accommodation consists of seven bedrooms, a corridor, a lift, and two staircases. The bedrooms are divided into two main blocks, with bedroom 1 and bedroom 2 in the top left corner and the others in the lower right corner. Moreover, two meeting points for fire evacuation can be found outside the building, including Meeting Point 1 in the west and Meeting Point 2 in the Northeast.
Regarding fire exit routes, residents in bedroom 1, bedroom 2, and bedroom 3 are instructed to take the stairs located in the west of the college accommodation to exit. After going down the stairs, they are gathered at Meeting Point 1. Meanwhile, residents of bedroom 4, 5, 6, 7 are directed to head towards the northern stairs to gather at Meeting Point 2, which is located outside the building. Since bedrooms 4 and 5 are closer to the stairs, residents there can directly go towards the stairs. By contrast, residents of bedroom 6 and 7 have to pass through the corridor and the lift in order to reach the staircase. Additionally, people using the lift are also required to take the stairs for safety reasons.
