Dear Mr Blake,

I believe this letter finds you well. I am writing to propose a change in the opening hours for our flower shop.

Since I started working here, I have often heard our customers saying that they are surprised at how early our shop closes. Just today one gentleman complained that he cannot buy flowers for his wife on his way home because we are closed by the time he finishes his job at 5 pm. He is far from being the only one to mention this issue.

By closing early, we lose evening sales; moreover, we encourage people to go to our competitors. As a result, people who have always bought flowers from Lily’s may get used to go to other florists and continue buying there even we are open.

One possibility for opening in the evening without extending the business hours would be to open later. Very few people will come in during the first two hours in the morning. Therefore, opening from 10 am to 7 pm will definitely satisfy our customers.

I believe this change would benefit our shop and I hope you will give it some consideration.
