Band 6+: Your local newspaper wants to reward people who have contributed much to the community. Write a letter to the newspaper editor recommending someone in your community. In your letter describe who the person is and how you know them; describe their contributions to the community; explain why you think they deserve the reward.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter in response to your advertisement about rewarding people who made a significant change in society.

His name is Alvin, and he has been living in the North Coast for the past 17 years. I know him well because he had stayed at my rented apartment a couple of years ago. He was known for his kindness and helping nature. He is usually interested in doing social activities for people who are in need. For example, he volunteered for the funding of local people who rely on others for food and clothing and also made his contribution towards collecting the payment of school fees for their children.

He was also in the habit of planting trees regularly, and he almost planted over 2500 saplings throughout a decade. So being a social activist and his willingness to do for society made him one of the remarkable persons in our community. Moreover, he also decided that his properties are to be given to an orphanage when he died. So, I would like him to be addressed on the newspaper that would be published on the coming Friday, and he would be a well-deserved person for it.
