Band 6+: 3.Some countries have legal ages at which people can drink, while other countries believe not having strict laws is a better policy.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some governments have rule ages at which individuals could drink, while other nations believe that having strick laws is not good policy. In my opinion, I consider that having legal ages at which people can drink is right policy.

On the one hand, according to some, different nations have official ages at which citizens can drink alcohol and agree with this. Firstly, if young people start drinking alcohol at an early age, it might be a habit and addiction that influences their future negatively. In other words, alcohol destroys the brain, kills cells, and slows down thinking. For example, students who are addicted to alcohol usually can not concentrate on studying. Therefore, they lose time. Furthermore, they lose money that their parents have paid for them. This is because institutions do not return their payment.

On the other hand, some individuals think that having limited ages for drinking is not a good policy. One of the reasons is that society should respect everyone’s choices. That is to say, adults ought to trust young generations. For instance, in many countries, schools have lessons that educate students about the dangers of alcohol and other harmful habits. Thus, the government trusts young people to learn the lesson and make the right choice. Another reason is that the state’s policy is not to interfere in people’s personal lives. When people should adapt to adult life and make informed decisions.

To sum up, while people may vary in their options, I think that I agree with the having rule ages at which people could drink. Because not all young people are capable of making informed decisions, restricting their access to alcohol and other harmful habits until a certain age, in my opinion, is the right decision.
