Henry Brooks Adams is well-known as his quote indicating to friendship and its relevant “A friend in power is a friend lost.” On my perspective, this statement is only agreed partly for the reasons of society preferences and other aspects on all fronts.
On the one hand, “a friend in power” refers to individuals enhancing themselves in various ways and easily losing connection with the old mate. Particularly, once people experience a transformation of gaining power, it results in strained or severed friendship. For instance, it can be seen clearly that most of graduated students have to pursue in their career paths in specific fields, making the relationship separated and sparely gradually. While the communication plays a crucial role in maintaining the core of genuine = sincere friendship, out of contact might happen the disruption on this. Another example would be about the classification of social level, in which the different position is distinguished. In detail, each human has his own mission and passion, finding himself a better version. This shifts in behavior, surrounded network over the time hence individuals easily drop their mates.
On the other hand/ On the end of spectrum, the quality of friendship is determined/ identified by personal purpose, not refers to social relationship. For instance, existence of the rich friendships proves that it isnot completely effected by material possession ( của cái vật chất) as long as people regards themselves to be their mates. It is obviously that the sustainable bond between friends is as perfect as the way people connect on each other.
To sum up, there is deniable crisis reasoning on the statement of Henry Brooks Adams, which defined the friendship tendency. Nevertheless, it is also a story of different true natures that whether would be into maintaining the steadfast relationship.
