In the period of rapid technological advancements, the question of whether the development of AI and computers poses a danger to human-beings has sparked fierce public discourse. Admittedly, there are compelling arguments on both sides, however my stance leans toward that the positive consequences of this improvement would outweigh its expected threats.
Critics of increasing AI role in people’s lives cite various reasons to defend their viewpoint, chief among which is job displacement. Since computer-based systems are less likely to present challenges and errors in the operational processes, most of the companies start to neglect human skills and intervention in favor of automatic machines and tools. Although total cost of ownership associated with AI and digital tools may flactuate during specific periods, because of the multifunctionality, they play a pivotal role in reducing organizational expenditures in order to hire additional staff for each position. A case in point is Apple, one of the biggest companies in high technology industry, it has already begun to substitute human capital with AI-powered databases, particularly to monitor risks and potential dangers in advance. Their beneficial utility leads to the widespread acceptance of AI and other productive softwares in big companies, which carries existential risk for human labour.
On the other hand, this assertion critically overlooks convenience and positive contributions that computers have brought to our daily and corporate lives. This standpoint highly resonates with my opinion that the application of high technology in different sectors can pave the way for amazing breakthroughs, which, in turn, may reduce work hours and increase productivity with the least possible errors. Combination of human logic with advantages offered by AI might result in quick response to the frequently changing world trends and overcoming any possible jeopardy to organizational success and reputation.
To encapsulate, the advent of cutting-edge technologies may be viewed as a double-edged sword. While its ability to accomplish multiple tasks may narrow labour market and acts as a main threat for less skilled workforce, it would be extremely short-sighted idea to deny the reality that the involvement of advanced technology in the various aspects of society offers far more sustainable solutions to address the intricacies of current critical issues.
