This is the era of rapid industrial development which had led to increase in consumersim trends among people. People have started depending on material goods to fulfill their need for hapiness. Although happiness is driven by totally different factors, people have learned to drive it through goods.
Old people were simple, they did not have access to social media. They did not know the habits of people living in different counteries and even in different cities. Thus, they used to focus on fulfilling their basic needs including the need for food, shelter, and social networking. Due to access to limited things and simple way of living, people used to drive happiness through friendship, relationship, and strong societal bonds. The success in these was entirely dependent on mutual trust, kindness, and personal values. Conclusively, simple way of living of our ancestors prompted them to judge others on the base of personal, social, and ethical values.
Gen Z has been the demonstration of a society where people are judged on the base of their social rank and material possession. Most of the yongsters are insipred by fast fashion trends. These trends can only be adopted by people who have enough money, thus, Gen Z prefers money over individual values of trust and compassion. Therefore, most of the people now a days seem judging people on the base of their social ranks as more the money a person will possess, the more fast fashion trends he would be able to follow.
