In recent times, it has become evident that exercising is becoming more difficult. Some people think the best way to motivate adults is by showing sports competitions on TV, such as the Olympics and international tournaments. However, from my point of view, there are better solutions to this problem, such as showing inspirational movies and building strong networks. This essay will demonstrate ways to increase people’s desire to engage in physical activities.
To begin with, television programs, such as the Olympics, can bring cheerfulness and enjoyment, but they do not necessarily influence adults’ desire to take action. Many older individuals may feel demotivated because they only see rewards and results, without understanding the hard work behind them. A solution to this problem is showcasing breathtaking movies that depict an athlete’s entire journey and highlight how sports can change lives. For instance, after *Rocky* was released, boxing became more popular, and many people started training at gyms. The film made boxing look like an exciting and honorable sport, leading to a rise in amateur boxing participation. Many athletes and gym-goers watch it to push themselves harder. The film also contributed to the rise of sports movies that inspire people to take up physical activities.
Another point to consider is that major sporting events create a sense of excitement and community. When people see others discussing and engaging in sports, they may feel motivated to participate themselves. Moreover, when individuals realize they are not alone and that many adults face the same struggles, anxiety levels decrease. For example, a network of fitness-minded people can create challenges, such as step-count competitions or fitness goals. Friendly rivalry pushes people to put in more effort than they would alone. Many workplaces now have fitness challenges where employees track their steps or workouts. Knowing that colleagues are participating motivates them to move more.
Ultimately, watching televised sports competitions is not enough to increase the desire to exercise. Instead, a more effective approach involves showcasing highly motivational sports films and fostering strong networks where people can work out together at the gym.
