Band 6+: Advances in technology and automation have reduced the need for manual labor. Therefore, working hours should be reduced. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, many people believe that traditional ways of working and developing a job have become less needed as revolutionary technological innovations continue to expand. Due to that, they think that there should be a reduction of the time dedicated to work. This essay will defend the idea that technology and human interventions should find a practical balance and we should apply equitative payments to the people who contribute their effort even if they don’t spend complete legal journeys.

Firstly, technological and classical ways of working should be applied with fair conditions, which take into account effectiveness, velocity and precision. It is evident that, in our modern world, technology plays a crucial role in the development of many jobs. However, there are many works that require human-related processes of making decisions. For instance, a robot could not totally replace a worker because it needs his instructions and critical way of thinking that makes him perfect for handling any problem that could be presented. In that order, a person is able to be the perfect complement for technology in some phases and tasks of working activity. Indeed, technology wouldn’t be nothing without humans.

On the other hand, finding a balance between technology and manual labour still means that workers are going to spend less hours and they may be receiving poor payments. In this case, enterprises should look for equitative ways of paying salaries which are not proportional to the time spent but to the influence and important interventions done by the workers. In fact, there are many advanced activites that could be done by humans at the same time that robots develop their tasks. For example, while technology produces products to sell, workers could be creating new spaces for installing new technology as well as finding new bussiness connections.

As a conclusion, human-related influence is crucial in the development of tasks with technology shared responsabilities. Humans are able to contribute with their skills and become more efficient with the help of a machine. In addition, workers should receive equitative payments that dont ignore the great role they play in the accomplishment of many jobs. In fact, technology will never replace critical thinking.
