One of the widely discussed issues nowadays in some countries is that students, after leaving school, take a gap year and go travelling instead of working. Personally, I completely agree with the point of view that taking a gap year and travelling gives time to think about the future; moreover, it opens up new opportunities.
Taking a gap year and travelling have clear advantages. Firstly, the majority of students do not have time to think about the future because of exams such as SAT and IELTS. Meanwhile, after all of these stresses, going on a trip is a good way to broaden one’s horizons and think about the job that they will do in the near future. Secondly, students who spend their year travelling do not lose a year; instead, they can gain new opportunities and proposals, which can contribute to their future success and work, because they have a dream of being rich and moving to another country.
On the other hand, working immediately after school has advantages and disadvantages. Firstly, several people who work after school do not pay attention to studying at university and cannot keep a balance between working and studying. However, some students with strong discipline can manage both. Secondly, working helps one become independent in terms of money without relying on parents financially. Many young people depend on their parents; as a result, they will not have personal boundaries because of their parents, and they will not be able to think on their own.
In conclusion, although a student’s life depends on their decision, one wrong decision does not mean that it is the end of their life
