Nowadays, one of the most worrying problems that countries face is excessive logging. This essay will discuss some reasons why this occurs and examine the consequences of this concerning trend.

One of the main reasons why deforestation happens is urbanization. Expansion of cities and towns demands more trees to be cut down, which leads to the clearing of forests for housing, commercial spaces, industries, and eventually exploiting forests forest resources. Another reason is wildfires. To give example, in some countries, small-sized forest fires are illegally and deliberately caused by people with the desire to deforest those places to build commercial buildings such as hotels and malls. Additionally, incautious use of papers can, yet indirectly, be stated as another cause. People wasting papers because of reckless behaviour leads to the need for more trees to be cut down, and this may have an adverse impact on the fate of forests.

The effects of deforestation have been and will continue to be very serious. Trees preserve the soil beneath them, thus tree loss can affect its integrity. When they are cleared, the soil in the area starts to erode and this disrupts myriad plant life as well as insects, worms, reptiles, and small mammals. Additionally, acid rains are also consequence of this event. As trees help to stabilize the amount of CO2 in the area, when all trees are felled, pollutants mix with water vapor, and form acid rain.

In conclusion, there are several disastrous causes of deforestation (urbanization, paper waste) in the world, and a variety of negative effects, such as soil erosion and loss of habitat.
