There is a divide among people when it comes to the primary source of news for most individuals. Some argue that people prefer reading news on the Internet, while others believe that newspapers are still relevant. From my perspective, newspapers have already diminished in importance and may soon become obsolete.
One reason why news on the Internet or social media platforms is more popular is the speed at which news is delivered. While newspaper agencies have to print and distribute newspapers to the market, many people can access all the news they need online. This eliminates the need to purchase newspapers and incur additional expenses. Furthermore, individuals may have varying interests and prefer to read specific news that is relevant to them. Online news sources offer separate websites for different topics, making it more convenient for readers.
Furthermore, it is evident that newspaper agencies are disappearing in some countries because people are no longer interested in traditional newspapers. Nowadays, more people are turning to online social networks for news consumption, not only due to the speed and accessibility but also because reading news online provides an interactive and entertaining experience. Online platforms allow for comments and discussions, enabling people to express their opinions and engage with the news. For example, in Uzbekistan, 87% of people choose to read news on the Internet because social media platforms like Instagram and Telegram offer features to comment on news and share it with friends.
In conclusion, while some may argue that newspapers are still in demand for the majority of the population, in my view, the Internet plays a more crucial role in delivering news to the public due to its speed and additional interactive features.
