It is widely argued that a significantly growth in the production of commodities in the world over last decades has a negative impact on the natural environment. There are a numbers of reasons behind this point of view and several solutions should be proposed to prevent environmental pollution.
There are two primary reasons why the natural ecosystem has been damaged by the increasing in the production of essenstial items. Firstly, the development of consumer goods will lead to the increased use of packaging such as paper, plastic bags and other by-products like color printed labels, chemical waste, etc. Most of these toxic waste is hard to recycle and easily highly detrimental to environment if they are not processed properly. For example, plastics takes thousands of years to decompose and chemical seep into water and cause water pollution as well as diseasess. Another reason is that the increase in consumption requires more factories and companies to appropriate agricultural land to build factories. This leads to the natural ecosystem being affected due to the small area of agricultural land, which in turn leads to many types of floral and fauna losing their natural habitats.
However, measures must be taken by goverments and international bodies to prevent a damage to the environement. Firstly, the goverments can impose a heavy fines on companies that release more waste into the environment than allowed. Secondly, international NGOs can co-operatve with universities, schools on educating students on how to protect the environment and volunteer in tree planting campaigns.
In conclusion, this problem comes from several aspects, but each individual and organization could enforce a wide range of methods to tackle it.
