Today, more and more young people enjoy celebrating festivals such as Halloween or Christmas. Some people believe that this is not wrong, while others claim that there are several effects. In my opinion, world festivals have various negative impacts on young people in Vietnam.
Firstly, celebrating these foreign holidays can lead to a loss of appreciation for traditional Vietnamese festivals. For example, Tết is one of the most important holidays in Vietnam; yet, many young people seem to focus more on Western celebrations. As a result, the rich cultural practices, family traditions, and values associated with Tết may be forgotten or neglected.
Secondly, these foreign festivals can also bring unnecessary commercial pressure. Young people may feel forced to spend money on gifts, costumes, or decorations just to keep up with these celebrations. This can turn the festivals into materialistic events, rather than meaningful cultural moments.
In conclusion, while celebrating foreign festivals may seem fun and offer opportunities for global exchange, it is important to be aware of the negative consequences.
