Nowadays, many people around the world prefer to buy ready-to-eat food instead of cooking at home. This trend has some advantages like it saves time for individual who have very hectic schedule but I believe the disadvantages are more serious, because package food can eventually harm the immunity and overall health of the people as it contains lot of saturated fats and refined oil.
One clear merit of ready-made food is that it saves time for people. Many people have busy jobs and little free time, so buying food that is already prepared is easier for them. Moreover, it also helps people who do not know how to cook or do not want to spend time in the kitchen. Beside this, in some cases it is also cheaper than buying many ingredients just to make one meal. For example, many of my classmates had their lunch from canteen because they do not have enough time to cook in morning, as it eventually saves their time and efforts of making.
However, there are more demerits to this habit. First of all, ready-to-eat meals are often unhealthy, as they usually contain a lot of fat, sugar, and salt, which can cause health problems like obesity, high cholesterol which can eventually cause heart disease, if people eat them often. Furthermore, eating this kind of food all the time can make people forget how to cook, especially young people. Despite this, cooking at home can also bring families together, and this might be lost if everyone eats separately or orders food from outside. Lastly, a lot of packaging from these meals adds to pollution and harms the environment which leads to global warming and crucial environmental issues.
In conclusion, although buying ready-made food is easier and faster, I believe the negative effects on health, family life, and the environment are more important. Therefore, the disadvantages are stronger than the advantages.
