In today’s contemporary era, technology, AI and automation is advancing at an unprecedented pace, which promise to increase productivity and innovation and threaten to displace millions of workers at the same time. In this case universal basic income is being seen as the one and only solution to overcome this potential problem. I am of the opinion that this approach may provide people to cover their essential expanses. However, we can go further rather than just distribute regular and unconditional cash.To begin with, Artificial Intelligence and automation is taking over jobs and manual labor. Since they are capable to outperform highly specialised tasks with greater accuracy, surpassing human expertise in many fields. And we need an effective measures to prevent job loss. Nevertheless, financial assistant solely does not solve the root of the issue. A case in point that, one manufacturing employees replaced by automation, including robots or state-of-the-art technological devices. In this case, UBI can provide monthly salary without labour and enrolling in work, however they could not ensure that you own alternative job.
Furthermore, government may face with great financial burden. For instance, To supply residents financially can be significantly challenging. Since, it requires substantial and sustainable source of funding. Instead of providing financial support, governemnt should invest in education and professional retraining to prepare workers for emerging occupations. In addition, Encourage the development of industries that require human creativity, judgement and problem solving skills can be reasonable approach to ensure people to find alternative employment in the future.
To sum up, universal basic income is not practical solution and it could not help to provide people with alternative employment opportunities and it may make difficulty for government to distribute money among the entire population. Therefore we should go for more viable and promising alternative solutions.
