Opinions are divided on whether museums in this day and age still have a place in society compared to materials found on the internet, which enables people to gain cultural and historial knowledge conveniently. In my opinion, I believe that while internet has a great advantage over historic galleries, going to the museums to know more about ancient values remains vital to each person’s experiences as well as the true feeling of seeing such relics.

On the one hand, using internet for historical purposes gives people an opportunity to see ancient relics remotely. Many who are not able to visit nearby museums due to facts such as being snowed under with work may find it more easy and convenient to learn more about cultural and historic heritage through phones, laptops, improving their research efficiency and reducing the time for travelling to historical buildings. However, concerning the reliability of information on the internet, people are not always aware of prevalent fake information since the majority of the world’s population rely mainly on internet nowadays in almost every aspect, thereby making it hard to classify appropriately between a great deal of misinformation.

For that reason, I believe that museums today still hold an appeal for actual history enthusiasts both because of their reliability of information and the immersive feeling of seeing artefacts in person they give. Given that eye-related disorders can be brought on as well as potential feelings of getting bored may be prompted via excessive use of mobile phones, cultural and historic galleries are deemed the better alternative as they foster a natural interest in history and provide viewers with a more realistic perspective of ancient relics. For example, children would prefer to go to physical displays of ancient buildings to see such masterpieces and enjoy the craftsmanship rather than watching online.

In conclusion, while some people think museums are no longer important due to the advent of internet for more convenient ways of watching or doing research on cultural and historical knowledge, I believe that museums are just partly replaced in certain aspects and overall, they still remain a firm place in society today due to their ability to encourage people to engage more in learning history and culture.
