Band 8+: Children are generally more successful in foreign language studies than adults. Thus, it is better to learn language in childhood . Do you agree or disagree ?

In the modern era, youngsters succeed in acquiring a knowledge of non-native tongues rather than adolescents. Therefore, language education should ideally embark from childhood. I completely agree with this idea because they have cognitive skills and the most crucial abilities for learning, such as curiosity, and also trust.

First and foremost, children possess exceptional neurocognitive flexibilities that allow them to effortlessly absorb new linguistic systems. This is because their brains are still in a stage of rapid development, which enables them to not only imitate pronunciation with native accuracy, but also internalize grammatical proficiency. Additionally, young learners are owners of great mental aptitude that is memorising new expressions, which is efficient for vocabulary skills. One obvious example in this regard is that psychologists conducted research regarding how learning another language early enhances creativity, memorization, and cultural tolerance. Accordingly, I am inclined to say that preschoolers have a capability regarding internalization of linguistic conception compared to teenagers.

Secondly, young generations can acquire other countries’ tongues more than adults due to self-confidence and inquisitiveness. As a consequence, these temperaments can boost not only their communication abilities, but also their creativity. The research was conducted by psychologists among preschoolers and teenagers. The results of these studies suggest that superior cognitive adaptability and psychological openness of nursery-age humans make them more productive language learners compared to adults. For instance, young learners have a tendency to treat language learning as a playful experience, which encourages constant practise and relationships. When it comes to adolescents, they are often hindered by fear of making mistakes or social embarrassment. These evidences support the idea preschoolers are dominating over adults.

To conclude, I strongly agree that preschoolers surpass their counterparts in respect of language acquisition, while even they do not possess powerful patience. The specific reason for which is that they are the owners of powerful mental adaptability, curiosity, and confidence.
