The topic of respect in the home is a controvercial one, as more and more parents find that their children do not respect them. These behaviour can be seen to be having a nagative impact on the society at large.

Some people say the blame should be placed squarely at the feet of the parents while others believe it is the fault of a global cultural change. As times are changing, some individual believe children should be given more autonomy even at the risk of been disrespectfull.

It is said that ‘charity begins at home’. I believe, the failure of parent to instill desipline on their kids from a young age is the root-cause. As an adult the values we hold dear are mostly developed from childhood.

In my experience, regard for ones elders in an important part of my culture and it is engrained in every part of an interaction between an older and a younger person. This can especially be percieved in the manner of greeting as a young person is expected to perform certain gestures when greeting an old person. A boy greeting an adult is expected to bow while a girl is to kneel slightly.

In conclusion, children in mordern society do not respect their parent
