Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 5+: Children have more and more tests and exams to do at school, sometimes starting from the age 5 or 6, right up until age of 18. What are the advantages and disadvantages of making children do exams?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In schools, children take exams from the age of 6 to 18. Some consider it preferable, some do not.

I advantages this opinion

Nowadays, exams for primary and upper grades have been removed in schools, only exams for graduates are left. It is definitely worse because children take less exams during school and when they enter university there are exams every semester and this has a negative effect on the child’s psychology. He is used to not passing exams. Every time he takes an exam at university, he struggles and can get stressed. Exams should be started not from elementary grades, but after entering upper grades, so that the child will have the concept of exams for 6 years and will be able to pass university exams without difficulty.

It’s good to test children at school, but it’s even better if students take an exam at the end of each school year to test their knowledge. By taking the exam, the students will know the level of their knowledge and try to improve accordingly. They are prepared for exams from a young age and in the future they will be prepared not only for exams but also for other tests. Also, children should be taught that exams are not difficult, but that they are a simple test that determines the level of your knowledge. For example, I was told that exams are hard since I was young, and I still think that exams are hard, but after taking the exam, I realize how easy it is and it’s a result of my knowledge.

In conclusion, there are definitely advantages and disadvantages of taking exams for children from elementary to high school. I agree that children should take exams from higher grades.
