Band 7+: Computers are being used more and more in education. Some people say this is a positive trend, while others argue that it leads to negative consequences. Discuss both sides of this argument and then give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The education industry has gone through a drastic change recently and offline classes, especially in schools, have been replaced by online sessions which have resulted in excess use of technology such as laptops & desktops amongst the students. It is argued by a few that this is a positive development, whereas others disagree and advocate that this will have adverse effects. As far as my opinion is concerned, I wholeheartedly consider this advantageous for the students, though I will discuss both viewpoints in this essay.

First of all, the use of computers, along with the internet, has already started benefitting the students with their homework and assignments by opening access to a plethora of online resources. All it takes is to open a website on any smart device and type a search phrase in order to have an abundant collection of topics in text, video and audio formats. This results in a variety of ideas to study and ultimately submit better papers at school. Wikipedia, for example, is a great repository of freely accessible authentic information related to almost every topic.

However, the increasing use of computers for studying has led to students being habitual of getting easy information without putting a lot of effort. On average, it doesn’t take more than 5 minutes for someone to gather images & texts to prepare a report or a homework assignment, which has led to a reduction in patience levels in youngsters. Instead of patiently browsing through various articles, they get irritated when it is not found quickly, thereby affecting their mental health which can further result in anxiety & panic attacks as they do not have a habit to work hard.

In conclusion, although the use of computers in the field of education has a negative impact on its users, however, its judicious use opens the world of knowledge for the students which is certainly a blessing in disguise.
