In modern times, some argue that the invention of computers is of the utmost importance in the last century while others say the opposite. From my perspective, I strongly advo cate the former statement due to the depedence and helpfulness of this piece of technology, which I will discuss further in this essay.
On the one hand, the emergence of computer-based society still has its fair share of disadvantages. First and foremost, the appearance of addiction can be found in the younger generation when they have not master the ability to be self-discipline after long periods of computer use compared to adults. This drawback of the uprising in computers is detrimental to the population’s well-being and can lead to unwanted consequences. Another factor to prove why computer is not as important as we think is that humans can perform better in medical fields, psychological fields than computer does because it does not have the ability to diagnose and comfort patients correctly. For example, googling mild symptoms of a minor headache will most likely tell the user that they have gone to the last stage of brain cancer. Therefore, it is noticeable that healthcare is not suitable when a computer does the job, but a computer can still shine in other aspects.
On the other hand, computers are said to be most efficient in terms of performing sophisticated calculation. This can vary from giving detailed answers in calculus exercises to measuring the trajectory of a rocketship. Another crucial advantage lies in doing monotomous task such as labor-intensive duties in factory work. With that being said, the rise in computer helps cut down on repetitive tasks to save time as well as increasing the accuracy in calculation compared to human’s performance. It is undeniable that for the last hundred years, society has become dependent on computer in a good way.
In summary, the appearance of computer have caused arguments whether it is helpful to people or not. I personally agree that computers have aid humans more than it does harm to.
