Some people assume that learning about people’s habitat in history through movies or videos are more effective than reading some documents. From my perspective, I agree that learning through pictures and animations is better than reading articles passively.
One of the most effective benefits is providing the watchers with vibrant and detailed pictures in order to make them reconnect with those who lived in the past. With well-skilled characters and elaborative background in the scene through films or video records, audiences can watch carefully about the ancient people’s behaviours, routines and culture. Besides, citizens can find it the most interesting method to learn through the videos because of the characters’ actions as a demonstration of creation or using some tools. Many campaigners, for example, are trying to learn the way that ancient people made fire before. However, it is confusing when campaigners read a long document with numerous descriptions of making fire. This cannot stimulate their imagination of the procedures and somehow cause confusion if people read too many documents.
On the other hand, learning through written documents can be more time-consuming than the one of watching video records and films. It can take people more time to read word by word in the documents and link the sequences of past events or people’s behaviour to understand the reason how differently ancient people lived in the past. Moreover, it is hard for learners to keep their flow to read many pieces of paper because it requires a long time and full concentration on the reading, compared to watching at least one-and-a-half-hour movie to demonstrate the ancient people’s habitat and routines, which is shorter time and the most relaxing activity for people to learn in the comfort state.
In conclusion, learning about previous people’s habitat in history through movies or videos brings various benefits for learners, such as stimulating people’s imagination, time-effective, than passively reading some documents.
