I completely dissent to this notion as I believe this can be beneficial for a plethora of reasons.
To begin with, one of the crucial reasons for forecasting is to bring awareness in the community, so that individuals can take relevant measures to be safe instead on risking their lives. For instance, if there has been a recent case of robbery in the neighborhood posted on the media/newspaper, this will be an eyeopener to the public to take early precautions in their respective surroundings. Another valuable reason to consider is that telecasting crimes, kidnapping, robberies etc. and the applicable punishments can instill a sense of fear and reluctance in people before committing an unlawful act. Moving forward, when criminals are telecasted, it can help authorities to chance upon finding them when identified by the public, which in turn can curtail crime rates.
That said, arguments arise in contrast that when it comes to juveniles, that this sort of information can affect them mentally leading to an unpeaceful and distressed life. However, when outweighing the pros and cons, I strongly believe better safe than sorry.
