Nowadays, the introduction of ad-driven services like Google or Facebook has made it easier for corporations to compete using advertisements. Over the last few years, this has had a growing negative effeet on customers. In my opinion, measures involving reducing the number of ads should be taken in order to improve the customer experience.
It is undeniable that customers are heavily affected by advertisements from competing brands. As the numbersof competitors rise, the need for companies to make their stand out gets bigger, leading to an ever-increasingstream of promotions and commercials that negatively affect the life of consumers. This also leads to predatorypractices from various corporations, such as flashy visuals and misleading statements to lure in customers. Forexample, Youtube, a popular video streaming website, has been making changes to their platform to maximizethe number of ads for viewers, most of which are designed to appeal to uninformed people such as adolescentsand old people, and trick them into spending more.
In order to solve this problem, the government, as well as the companies need to step in and take action. First of all, laws and regulations should be created to limit the amount of advertising a certain brand is allowed tomake. By limiting the space for promotions, brands will be forced to consider their commercial designscarefully, while making sure that customers don’t feel overwhelmed. Moreover, companies should request third-parties, such as well-known reviewers, to give impartial ratings and insights for their products as analternative to ads.
In conclusion, the impact of advertisements from competing brands on their customers has become more andmore palpable. In order to solve this issue, the authorities and these brands should try to reduce the amount ofcommercials, as well as getting opinions from other parties.
