In today’s society, becoming famous and making money through social media platforms is increasingly common. As a result, there is a lot of controversy why celebrities are paid so much.
There is an opinion that celebrities are born with innate talent and don’t need to spend time studying at university like doctors or teachers. The comparison highlights the difference between the educational levels of traditional occupations and those in the entertainment industry. Some people say that celebrities often waste money on buying expensive cars, houses and parties. The focus on expensive cars, houses, and parties suggests that celebrities prioritize material possessions and extravagant lifestyles.
It is true that superstars work really hard on their careers before they became famous. They spend ten of thousands of hours acting, singing and training to perfect themselves. For example, Beyoncé is known for her meticulous attention to detail and her constant drive to improve her artistry. On the other hand, celebrities don’t have private lives. They are constantly being followed everywhere by paparazzi. They will be heavily criticized if those ugly photos are released. Those ugly pictures could ruin their reputation if they go viral. For example, some K-Pop idols are caught on the street without makeup, dressing down, and then compared and criticized. In addition to their entertainment careers, famous people also raise funds to help people. When the central region of Vietnam was hit by floods in 2020, many celebrities actively participated in relief efforts to support the affected communities.
In my opinion, I strongly disagree that celebrities are overpaid. Although they are celebrities, they absolutely deserve to be paid commensurate with the effort they put in to create high-quality entertainment. Despite their luxurious lifestyles, many starts are generous with their donations and use their influence to spread culture.
In conclusion, I fully disagree with this statement. Famous people have sacrificed a variety of things in their entire life to achieve their dream and make money.
