In contemporary society, many adolescents have taken a large interest in driving cars, and taking into account the amount of car accidents taking place in a year, many people think that car-driving should be taught as any other subject at school. Although I agree with the fact that driving a car is a valuable skill, I personally disagree that it should be taught to teenagers at school due to a variety of reasons.
In modern day and age many people are driving cars at the mere age of sixteen, which actually is extremely problematic, as starting such activities at a young age has high chances for safety hazards, traffic congestions and severe consequences regarding the wellbeing of the driver and the people surrounding them. For instance, any teenager, no matter whether they have been taught how to drive or not, are four times more likely to get into a car crash than an adult driver due to their lack of experience and peer pressure, resulting in reckless driving. Moreover, teens are usually not taken seriously by a vast amount of adults, so whenever they want to be taught to drive, adults pay them very small attention and most likely regard them with an inadequate training, meaning that the adolescent would not be able to handle certain conditions when he or she is on the road.
On the other hand, despite the fact that driving comes with many hazards, being taught such information a little earlier than usual may be slightly beneficial in the management of time. For example, a teenager who plans to drive a car in the future wants to start driving school immediately after they graduate from high school, however when they have the chance to receive the same education in their high school together with the other vital subjects, there would be no waste of time after high school for learning to drive. Nevertheless, they still have to practice and gain experience to avoid safety concerns, which would not be available in high school. Students at school should focus more on their actual studies which they will need for applying to colleges or universities.
To conclude, being taught driving at school is a wonderful opportunity, however since it comes with a vast amount of hazards and dangers, it is better to delay the acquisition of that skill for another time and focus more on their actual school subjects.
