Lessons were the most used way to teach pupils in schools in the past. However, recently developed technology has provided us with new, widely used methods. These methods help students in terms of attendance to the lessons and give them the opportunity to search for related subjects easily, but there will also be some drawbacks of this technology development.
To begin with, the benefits that technology brings to the education process, the new method made attendance to the virtual classrooms more easy. Students now just need an internet connection and a device to reach their classes, this development overcomes the home-school distance issue that many pupils struggle with. Also, technology provides a lot of scientific sources which can be useful for students to search for their assignments or research. For example, students used to waste their time in libraries seeking old pieces of information which sometimes could be out of period for their studies. Instead of this way, learners now can find necessary, new information while they are at home. This new approach saves student’s time and effort.
Technology as an assistant in the teaching process also has its negative sides that make online lessons less efficient. Some lectures require a special environment to it understandable, something that technology may not be able to provide. For example, students normally are asked to do experiments in specific lessons such as physics and chemistry and take notes about the results they have noticed. As long as online courses can not cover such an aspect it may be considered as an inefficient teaching method.
To conclude, as lectures were the main teaching method in the past, technology created an alternative method of teaching students. The methods that have been provided by technology have positive sides like making it easier to attend a class despite the distance, and negative sides such as the lack of information caused by missing lessons that need physical attendance to be covered.
