There is a divided opinion over whether the various perks provided by employers have beneficial effects on employees’ health and productivity or not. While there are those who claim that these perks have no significant impact on workers, personally I believe their benefits should not be underestimated.
On the one hand, according to some, offering subsidized membership of fitness clubs does not play a great part in workers’ health and efficiency. To elaborate, some employees should work until late hours regarding their tasks and projects, leading to unwillingness to join these kinds of sport clubs. For example, some workers, above all married ones, have to take their free time to family instead of health centers, after spending most of their time at work. In other words, visiting gyms would be insufficient for them.
On the other hand, I side with those who are of the opinion that there are some benefits of cost-free subscription to sport clubs in terms of health lifestyle and work productivity. It goes without saying that physical exercise has a significant part to play on people’s health. What I mean by that is providing free membership of gyms for workers can be helpful to boost their immune system and overall health conditions. In doing so, they can feel more productive and efficient in their job responsibilities.
In conclusion, personally I admit that providing free membership of gyms and sport clubs has some beneficial impacts on workers’ health and efficiency, while advocates claim otherwise.
