Many believe that staff should be given a break of a 4-week holiday at least so they can improve their performances at work. In my opinion, I completely agree that employers should allow these minimum annual leave.
On the one hand, a 4-week holiday could adversely affect the flow of the business. To be more specific, company can only run smoothly with the collaboration of different agencies at a whole, from staffs to bosses. When the staffs are given such a long holiday, there will be a shortage of human resources to operate the business in an effective way. This leads to the fact that the progress of projects is slowed down and the deadline has to be adjusted to align with the plans of the company, which aggravates the productivity and quality of the work.
However, holiday is a beneficial method to motivate the staff. Holiday is often considered as a compensation for the effort and commitment of the employee for a given period. Many staff feel valued because their hard-work have been paid off, which encourages them to contribute more to the company and therefore improve their performances and achievements of the company. Furthermore, these holidays can enhance the balance for work and private life. Staff can make the most use of this time to recharge the battery, spend quality time with family and loved ones and take better care of their own well-being. If employees work too much without vacation, their energy levels can slowed down, which is bad for their work quality. This helps them combat with stress accumulated from work and return to work at their full strength.
In conclusion, a holiday yield lots of benefits for both counterparts, from staffs to the company itself. That is the primary reason why employer must include vacation as a basic in the company’s benefit package due to the various merits it brings back.
