There has been a hotly debated topic of whether business owners should allow their employees to take a long leave of at least a month every year to boost their job performance. From my perspective, I totally subscribe to this statement, and this essay will shed light on my view with supporting evidence.
There is no denying that an extended period of time out of employment can be beneficial to employees in terms of skill improvement and motivation. First of all, breaks from work offer time for workers to detach from tasks and ease tension derived from the workplace. By having enough time to recharge their energy and ignite their motivation and creativity, they can lead to increased productivity upon their return to work. For instance, a survey conducted by Harvard showed that employees who took at least four weeks off annually performed better at work when they came back by 30% because they had no burnout. In addition to that, some people have more time to acquire new interpersonal skills or knowledge, which may later on contribute greatly to their career.
An adequate amount of time off from work may help employees to have work-life balance, hence prolonging their dedication with enthusiasm. Personal time off allows individuals to have more time to foster family bonds, which are crucially vital to a person’s life. Moreover, they can be able to spare time for mental and physical health check-ups to adjust their lifestyle and diets accordingly. They can also have time to take up a new sport, hobby, or discovery to enrich their life. If all aspects of a laborer are put into consideration, it will increase their satisfaction and they will devote themselves to their career better afterwards.
To sum up, I am convinced that having a substantial amount of annual leave results in a more productive workforce because the employees are allowed to relax properly and balance their life in all spheres.
