Band 5+: Employers sometimes ask people applying for jobs for personal information, such as their hobbies and interests, and whether they are married or single. Some people say this information may be relevant and useful. Others disagree. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s modern world, employers ask details about their personal life such as hobbies, marriage status and many more. Some people argue that this type of information is not relevant to their job while others think it is essential to improve working culture. In this essay I will discuss both views and give my opinion.

On the one hand, People think this type of personal details are harm their privacy and it can be very danger for them. First of all, employer can judge the availability of the employee by their marrital status. For example, employer knows that married person can’t be able to do more outstation tours for company and it will be a drawback for them. Moreover, hobbies related information also can be judged by employer such as, if an employee is not interested in outdoors sports then employer thinks that employee is lazy.

However, Other people argue that personal information can be very benificial for both workers and companies. Personal details like their hobbies and interests will tell more about employee and employers will take decisions to their well being. For example, employer can arrange the games accourding to employes interest. If most of the workers like football then he can organize football tournament.

In my opinion, some of the personal information can be relevant to work and it should be ask by employer. So it will help create good environment at workplace.

Overall, personal information can be helpful for both employee and employer if it is used for fair purpose. Government should make some law that can stop discrimintion and gender abuse at workspace.
