Personal information is one of the basic information an employer will ask for. As this is the first and foremost question asked during the interviews too, to know an employee or to understand the background people ask these questions.
Some people disagree to take this information from an employee due to there privacy.
Information given during interviews can also be used in wrong way just to dominate or to let you down during work. Or sometimes the employee may get lot of work during the holidays just because he or she doesn’t have family to look after.
Sometimes, giving personal information at workplace or interviews gives a very positive and impactful expression to the other person. They can connect to us or to our problems by knowing our needs and also problems. Sharing our Hobbies and interest can give a great benefits or get greater opportunities while working. During an emergency or any health issue during working hours the employer can get easily connected to the family member of the person.
According to me sharing our personal information will not be a great problem, rather I feel it will be useful for us to get benefits or leaves from the employer. Sometimes connecting to people at work place is quite important to share our personal details too.
