It is argued that professionals such as doctors and engineers, have to serve their country because their government has paid for their training. I strongly disagree because they can earn more money by working in other countries.
On the one hand, a substantial amount of money is paid for these professionals, as their skills are needed in home countriey. It is only fair to repay their debts by giving back to the community. while their knowledge and skills are needed for people struggling, giving them the free pass so that they can work anywhere, can be a waste of resources. Nations spend on these professional skills, to tackle the problems related to health and infrastructure. For example, the Ethiopian government spends millions of dollars every year to pay for the education and accommodation, in return these professionals are expected to work in their mother land for at least ten years with out moving abroad.
However, these people with such education earn more money when they relocate and work anywhere in the world. Their skills and experiences have a huge demand in the job market, which makes it easier to get more salaries. Despite having a highly demanded training, they are paid less money in home countries. To illustrate, civil engineers get paid substantial amount of salary in countries that have continuous construction like the European countries and Saudi Arabia, while they get monthly salary of only two hundred dollars in Ethiopia. I agree with this argument because restricting them from moving overseas and chasing their dreams, will have a detrimental effect on their capacity to earn. By choosing their destination where they get more prospects, they can easily repay their debts to their government.
To conclude, despite the money spent on the professionals training, I believe they should choose where to work, so that they can be financially stable.
