Band 9: Environmental pollution has become one of the most serious issues in today's world. What are the causes of environmental pollution? What measures can be taken to tackle this problem?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, environmental pollution has become one of the most critical challenges, as it affects human health, ecosystems, and overall quality of life. This essay will discuss the main causes of pollution and suggest possible solutions to address these issues.

One major cause is industrial activity. Factories and power plants located inside cities release smoke and hazardous chemicals into the air and water. Similarly, the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture also contributes to soil and water contamination, which can cause respiratory diseases, heart problems, and skin disorders. To tackle this, governments should relocate factories to designated industrial zones and encourage farmers to adopt organic or eco-friendly practices.

Another significant contributor is transport. Cars, trucks, and buses emit exhaust gases that pollute the atmosphere. In some cases, these gases can even be fatal. For example, a tragic incident occurred in northern areas during winter when tourists left their car engines running overnight and suffocated due to toxic emissions. To reduce such risks, public awareness campaigns should be promoted, and stricter emission controls must be enforced.

Furthermore, the overuse of plastics and excessive energy consumption also worsen pollution. Single-use plastics harm the environment, while wasted electricity increases reliance on fossil fuels. To address these problems, governments should promote recycling programs, ban unnecessary plastic products, and encourage citizens to follow energy-saving policies.

In conclusion, although pollution is a serious threat, practical measures such as relocating industries, improving public awareness, and promoting sustainable practices can significantly reduce its impact. If these steps are taken, not only will current generations benefit, but future generations will also enjoy a cleaner and healthier environment.
