Band 5+: Families who do not send their children to government-financed schools should not be required to pay taxes that support universal education. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer, and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Some people believe that if their children study at schools which aren’t financed by the government, they shouldn’t pay the taxes for helping the universal education. In my point of view, society should pay the taxes whether their kids study at public schools or not. Because every citizen has the same rights which are given by the government. So, all people should pay taxes equally. In addition to that it’s their choice to not send their children to government-financed schools.

Firstly, the government gives an opportunity to every child in the country to study at public schools without asking for any fee. So, the government give a right to every family to use this opportunity. Therefore, all of citizens should be responsible for the taxes due to the government’s supplies.

On the other hand, families might wonder why they charge for a facility which is not used by them. But the reason why their children are lectured at a private school is these people’s choice. It is up to parents to take the opportunity or not. Thus, it shouldn’t be an exception for those families.

In my country, there are lots of private and public schools. People can choose where their children can get lectures. Although people choose different types of schools they pay taxes for educational support.

In conclusion, the government gives the same opportunity to all human who lives in the country. People can decide on using these supplies or not. If they don’t want to benefit, it is their decision. All people is equal infront of the government both on having rights and paying taxes.
