In the era of digitalisation, access to films and games from different gadgets has become easier than ever, with people playing and watching whenever they want. While there are potential drawbacks to this trend, I firmly believe that the beneficial aspects of this accessibility outweigh its disadvantages.
From one perspective, there are several reasons why using mobile devices to watch movies and play games can be disadvantageous. One primary drawback of this tendency is the possibility of it leading to a sedentary lifestyle and laziness. As people spend more time using gadgets, especially smartphones and computers, they gradually become accustomed to watching films and playing games on such devices. As a result, they spontaneously forgo outdoor activities, going to the theatre and watching movies in person, for example, and forget about regular exercise in most cases. This, in turn, leads such people to live sedentary lives, meaning they spend most of their time sitting, therefore eventually resulting in more serious health issues, including being overweight. Another disadvantage of the accessibility of movies and games from mobile devices is wasted time. Utilising modern gadgets is indeed addictive and attractive. To be precise, the more individuals spend watching movies and playing online games, the more time they waste. Instead of this time usage, this wasted time could better be allocated to other productive activities, such as doing homework in the case of students or working. Therefore, this tendency is rather disadvantageous.
From another perspective, I believe that increased accessibility to watch films and play games is advantageous in many ways. Starting with financial benefits, watching a movie in the theatre or cinema and playing outdoor games costs people money, especially when there is a premiere, a movie that appears in the cinemas for the first time. Going to such theatres and cinemas frequently, if interested in movies, may be exorbitantly expensive sometimes, as modern cinemas offer many facilities apart from a movie itself, with new technological advancements, like 3D movies, and a cozy and fascinating atmosphere. In this case, if individuals use mobile devices, they can have significant cost savings with just a click of a button on movie websites anywhere and at any time. Moreover, comfort and saving time are other advantages of using gadgets. In other words, people can feel comfortable at home, especially in their beloved seating area, with family members or friends, and can reduce the time that would otherwise be wasted on travelling to cinemas or game clubs. In addition to this, it is a major benefit for the disabled who are unable to walk or even sit. In such cases, the availability of online movies and games via modern devices and the sense of comfort come in handy to make the movie and gaming experience more like that in theatres and game clubs.
To conclude, despite the possible disadvantages of watching films and playing games on mobile gadgets, I think there are more important advantages to this trend, especially for people with disabilities and those on a tight budget.
