A lot of studies have been conducted on the matter of how people vote relatively to the specific age group, thus, to evaluate recent changes in the voting for local authorities caused by the instant information spreading through social media, the poll was passed by students of our university.
Initially, our idea was to collect the percentages of the most intriguing parameters based on the last elections in the county, these aspects were: general interest in voting, tendency to be associated with a specific political party, approaches of gathering news about significant figures and politicians. Consequently, 62% of students voted due to their desire to change something that disturbed them, 21% of them felt pressure from relatives, 5% had benefits and perks for voting, 12% decided that falsification is not evitable and did not appear.
Therefore, the group that wanted changes was the most intriguing, as their motives varied dramatically. After questioning them thoroughly to receive answers on a few short questions, it turned out that more than half of them voted due to advertisement or speeches of celebrities that have been shared on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. Moreover, every third person told that they had never been interested in politics and had not known about biography, views and even political parties of whom they were voting for.
In result, conducted research made a clear view on the modern problems of politics and approaches how results of elections can be altered via combination of technologies and easily-manipulated group of people.
