In today’s society, fossil fuels, namely coal, oil, and natural gas, are still being exploited and used as a primary resource in many countries. Nevertheless, several nations are gradually changing to harness alternative energy, for example, solar power and wind power. As far as I’m concerned, this trend is a positive development.
To begin with, many opponents assume that fossil fuels can not be replaced by any kinds of energy sources. This can be proved by the situation that most of the means of transportation and constructed factories has already been overly dependent in current sources, for instance, oil and diesel. Studies also claimed that it takes a considerable period of time to change from using fossil fuels to another eco-friendly counterparts. In addition, having alternatives is a risk that to deal with financial burden and national debt unless they are developing countries with expertise regarding this problem. As a result, many countries, especially ones which are developing, are unable to intergrate with this development.
On the other hand, environmentally friendly measures have been taken in some of regions and proved to be efficient in the long run. Changing to use solar or wind power is one of the practical ways to save national’s nature. Moreover, in spite of using oil or coal, which are finite and could be completely exploited in the future, government incentivizes such sustainable energy sources could be a way to consolidate energy security and to reduce carbon footprint. All mentioned advantages could help individuals to easily envisage the bright subsequent circumstance.
To conclude, although it is somehow a hindrance for some delevoping countries, I believe that policy makers and authorities have to consider to take gentle steps for holistic sustainability.
