Band 6+: Fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and natural gas, are the main source for many countries. However, some nations are using alternative energy such as solar power, wind power. Is this a positive or negative development?

Nowadays, although fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas are widely used as the main sources of energy in many countries, some nations have already switched to alternative energy sources, such as solar power, wind power. I strongly believe that this is a positive development because alternative energy sources are environmentally friendly and sustainable.

One major reason why using alternative energy is beneficial is that it helps protect the environment. Unlike a coal and oil, solar and wind power do not produce harmful gases to the around. As a result, air pollution can be reduced and people live in a cleaner environment and become more healthier. For instance, if family uses solar panels on the roof of their house, they can produce their own electricity without burning coal or gas. As a consequence, less pollution is released into the air. Therefore, using solar or wind power instead of fossil fuels can aim to create a healthier environment for everyone.

Another vital advantage of alternative energy is that it can help people save money in the long term. Although installing solar panels can be challenging financially at first, then this brings a lot of conveniences. For example, if the light goes out, the light can be restored in the evening through solar panels. This is particularly useful for families who live in areas where power cuts happen frequently. Moreover, people can pay less for electricity because they can use energy from the sun. For instance, families can use solar energy for daily activities. Therefore, they do not have to spend as much money on electricity bills. As a result, they can save money for other crucial needs.

To sum up, although switching to alternative sources may be expensive at first, I believe that this is a positive development because it helps protect the environment and allows people to save money in the long term.
